Currently ASSAR’s operating area is approximately 1,800 km2. We fall entirely under the
direction of Avon and Somerset Constabulary (ASC), who are the Category 1 Responder. We
also work with South West Ambulance Service, Hazard Area Response Teams, Devon and
Somerset Fire and Rescue DSFR), Coastguard and other Mountain Rescue teams including
Exmoor MR, various South Wales teams Mendip Cave Rescue and Severn Area Rescue
Association. We are part of the wider Avon Local Resilience Forum.
