22 ASC Log 620 The police contacted the team concerning a bankside search in Bath. The team was put on standby at 09.45 as search plans with other agencies were developed. The team was called out at 10.30 but stood down at 10.50 as the Fire and Rescue Service had located the body of the missing male.

21 ASC Log no. 320 ASSARs assistance was requested by the police to help in the search for a high risk missing male. The team was put on standby at 12.51 and called out at 12.55 to carry out a search of Stockhill Forest on the Mendip Hills. Team members rapidly deployed with police on scene. The missing person was located in the forest by an officer. ASSAR members assisted police with the casualty scene, guiding in resources, extrication and collection of evidence at height. The team was stood down at 19.41hrs.

20 ASC log no. 457 Avon & Somerset Police requested the assistance of ASSAR following concerns over a missing elderly gentleman in east Bristol area. ASSAR was put on standby at 16.03 and then called out at 16.28. Search specialists were deployed into urban parks along with the police and police helicopter. The missing person was found safe and well and returned to his family following assessment by a paramedic. ASSAR was stood down at 18.44.

19 ASC Log no. 483 ASSAR was put on standby at 18.02 following a request from the police. The request for assistance concerned a high-risk missing female in the Thornbury area north of Bristol. We were called out at 18.14. Over 20 specialist search technicians began searching farmland and woods accompanied by the police. The stand-down came at 19.59 as the missing person had returned safely.

18 ASC Log no. 054 ASSAR was called out to assist the police at 04.34 as an elderly lady suffering dementia had gone missing from her home in the Congresbury area. Police dogs, D&S Fire & Rescue and ourselves deployed into different search areas. A member of the public, supported by one of our search teams located the lady on a farm track. ASSAR members provided casualty care as the lady was suffering the effects of being outside for most of the night, while a team 4×4 was brought in to take the lady to waiting paramedics. ASSAR was stood down at 07.00.

17 ASC Log 989 (Continuation from 27/8/16) ASSAR support was requested again by police to search new areas around Wellington for Paul Hyam. The team was called out at 07.16. Search teams covered farmland and streams south of Wellington in conjunction with Exmoor SRT and the police mounted division. Nothing further was found and the team was stood down at 17.37 pending further police investigations.

16 ASC log no. 954 ASSARs technical rescue team were called out at 20.12 following reports of a fallen climber in the Avon Gorge. Sadly the climber was killed by the fall. ASSAR members remained on the scene working alongside partner emergency services to recover the fallen climber. The team was stood down at 22.33.

15 ASC log no. 771 ASSAR was put on standby at 18.59 by police requesting specialist search assistance for a high risk male in Highbridge. The team was called out at 19.21. Members searched water margins and wasteland until they were stood down at 23.44 with nothing found.

14 ASC log no. 989 Police initially contacted ASSAR on 27/8/16 requesting assistance with a search for a high risk male but due to the location in Wellington this was handed to Exmoor SRT. Due to the wide area required to be searched ASSAR was contacted on 28/8/16 asking to provide support to the Exmoor team. ASSAR members were put on standby at 10.40 and then called out at 11.23. Several members were deployed to assist in the search. Woodland and farmland was covered as part of this multi-agency search. ASSAR was stood down at 16.57 pending further developments.

13 ASC Log 1097 Police contacted the ASSAR requesting assistance with a search for a high risk female in the Priddy area on the Mendip Hills. The team was put on standby at 07.48 as a team member developed a search plan with the police. The missing female was located and the team member, accompanied by police, provided first aid until paramedics arrived. The team was stood down at 08.13.

12 ASC Log no. 151 The Police requested ASSARs assistance in searching for a young vulnerable male in Ashton Court where the Balloon Fiesta was taking place. The team was called out at 00.21. The missing person was found by police on a nearby road and the team was stood down at 00.49.

11 ASC Log no. 1035 The Police contacted ASSAR with concerns over a high risk missing person in the Frome area. The team was called out at 10.51. At 12.16 the team was stood down as the missing person was found by a member of the public and been taken to hospital.

10 ASC Log no. 0869 ASSAR was contacted by the police requesting assistance searching for a missing lady in her 70s in the Somerton area. The team were called out at 15:10 and made their way to the RV. At 16:24, just as members were deploying, the team was stood down as the lady was found safe and well by the Police.

09 ASC Log no. 1306 ASSAR was put on standby at 14.22 concerning a high risk male in the Martock area of South Somerset, and called out at 14.37. A team was deployed into the River Parrett to search supported by a water margin search in other locations. Nothing was found and the team was stood down at 21.00 pending further police investigations.

08 ASC Log no. 478 ASSARs assistance was requested by the police at 19.01 to search for a high risk missing male in the Larkhill area of Bath. ASSAR was put on standby and called out at 19.41. Specialist search teams were deployed into woodland and farmland areas until 22.30. ASSAR remained on standby during the night and were called back out at 11.00  on 19/7 to continue the search. The missing person was located deceased in woodlands. ASSAR assisted the police and ambulance service with the scene until being stood down at 16.54.

07 ASC log no 656. The police contacted ASSAR concerning reports that a saddled horse had been seen without a rider in the Ashton Court area. ASSAR was called out at 17.04 but put on standby at 17.12 until further clarification had been made via police enquiries. ASSAR was stood down at 17.48.

06 SWAST requested ASSAR be put on standby to assist moving an injured male in Dundry, Bristol at 16:06. The team was stood down at 16.10 as the situation had been dealt with.

05 ASC Log No. ASSAR was requested to go on standby at 08:19 by the police concerning an elderly male missing in the Newton St. Loe area near Bath. The team was called out at 09:26 and asked to search woodland and farmland. ASSAR also deployed Swiftwater Rescue Technicians to search a large stream running through the valley. ASSAR was stood down at 14:48 after the missing male was located in a nearby housing estate.

04 ASSAR was put on standby concerning a missing young male in Bath at 13.59. This took place while ASSARs Technical Team were training in Avon Gorge with colleagues from Avon & Somerset Police who handled the liaison. At the same time the police helicopter had been called out and helped locate the child. The team was stood down at 14.30hrs.

03 ASC Log No. 0291 ASSAR was contacted by Avon & Somerset Police concerning a missing 13 year old male, James Whalley from the village of Holcombe on the Mendip Hills. The team was called out at 14.39 to search quarries and woodland around the village. ASSAR search specialists continued into the night and with the search being suspended at 22.23 on the expectation of returning the next day. The team was called back out to commence searching other areas on 5/4/16, shortly after this police made contact confirming the young male had been found safe and well. ASSAR was formally stood down at 09.34.
